The Kumbh Mela 2019 Allahabad is one of the greatest annual religious fair for Hindus. Kumbh Mela is held every year on the banks of Triveni Sangam in Prayag near Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh. It is believed in the ancient times during an ongoing war between the demons and the demigods for the possession of the tonic of immortality, a few drops fell to earth at four places: Allahabad, Haridwar, Nasik, and Ujjain. Based on astrological calculations it returns to each place after a gap of twelve years, bigger each time. Every Year, the Kumbh Mela initiates upon the arrival of Makar Sankranti in January, which is the main imperative bathing day as indicated by the Hindu calender. It starts with huge numbers of pilgrims taking a holy dive at the Sangam on favorable dates. People arriving in mass and stay here with alternative houses or tents at the Sangam every year, spending the whole month of Magh in petitions. This period is known as "Kalpvas". The individuals who religiously watch the "Kalpvas" are known as "Kalpvasis".
